The days are warm, but not unbearably so. The nights are still cool, but not enough to be uncomfortable. Is there a better time of year to enjoy the patio at Blue Willow Restaurant, Bakery & Gift Shop?
The walled and occasionally covered patio at Blue Willow is perhaps the most charming attribute of many at this popular North Campbell Avenue restaurant. It is perhaps one of the most charming restaurant patios in town.
Blue Willow's little gift shop, with its eclectic collection of cards, jewelry and knickknacks, has its fans. There's no question it can be an amusing place to spend a few minutes before or after a meal. The inside dining area is also nice. It retains the cozy atmosphere of the home it obviously once was.
But Blue Willow's patio is hard to beat.
Nestled in the back of the restaurant, away from the roar and fumes of one of Tucson's busiest streets, the patio is a little a refuge. The flowers and fountain lend an air of a classic Mexican courtyard. Even on a busy weekend morning, when the demand for one of the precious tables is at its most acute, the gardenlike atmosphere invites lingering and a leisurely approach to the first meal of the day.

Janos and J BAR are two restaurants owned and operated by Janos and Rebecca Wilder on the grounds of the Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Since its opening in 1983 in a Landmark adobe home in downtown Tucson, Janos has received national and international acclaim for original, trendsetting cuisine that marries the sensibility and subtlety of French cooking techniques with the ingredients of the American Southwest. This place, owned and run by John and Nancy McKearney, makes delicious artisinal bread with chewy crust and substantial, flavorful crumb. Their bread uses a natural starter as opposed to a commercial yeast. The baking process takes 10 hours, start to finish. You can find their breads at The Rumrunner, Wild Oats, and Trader Joe�s and sometimes at the farmers� markets. When I�m not baking my own, this is the bread I buy! They also have a stand at the Farmers� Market at St. Philip�s Plaza on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
